Navigate the Ministry Process

The Spanish government application system has moved to Profex 2. We guide you through registration, document uploads, and regional selection to ensure your application is successful.

1. Eligibility Check
Confirm you meet the requirements: Native English passport OR C2 Certificate (EU/Asian applicants) + University Degree (or final year student).
2. Profex 2 Application
We help you register on the new Profex 2 portal. You'll upload your passport, degree/transcripts, and C2 certificate (if applicable).
3. Regional Acceptance
You'll receive a placement in a specific region (Comunidad Autónoma). Once accepted, you receive your official "Carta de Nombramiento."
4. Student Visa
Use your "Carta" to apply for a long-term Student Visa at your local consulate. Arrive in Spain in late September to start October 1st!

  • TEFL: 120-Hour Preferred

  • Native English Countries: Passport serves as proof. Includes: USA, Canada, Australia, NZ, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu.
  • Non-Native Countries (C2 Required): Must upload C2 English Certificate. Includes: Bulgaria, China, Czech Rep, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Singapore, Sweden.
  • Merit-Based (India): Proof of English proficiency + A2 Spanish (DELE/SIELE) required.
  • Merit-Based (Philippines): Proof of English proficiency + A1 Spanish (DELE/SIELE) required.
  • Education: Must have a Bachelor's degree OR be currently enrolled as a Junior/Senior in university.
  • Background Check: Must provide a clean criminal background check (apostilled/translated).
  • Health: Must provide a medical certificate stating good physical/mental health.

Participants receive a monthly maintenance allowance ranging from €700 to €1,000, depending on the region. Because it is a government grant for students/cultural exchange, it is typically tax-free.
Citizens of the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga, and Vanuatu are considered native English speakers. Your passport serves as proof of language proficiency.
Yes! Applicants from the following countries can apply directly via Profex 2 if they provide a C2 English Certificate (CEFR standard) or a Bachelor's degree taught entirely in English:

Bulgaria, China (English stream), Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Luxembourg (English stream), Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Singapore, and Sweden.

*Applicants from India, Philippines, and Thailand apply via merit-based streams requiring specific language proofs (e.g., A2/A1 Spanish).
Generally, No. For applicants from Native English countries and most C2-qualified nations, Spanish proficiency is not required. Your role is to facilitate English immersion.

Exceptions: Applicants applying via the merit-based stream from specific countries do have prerequisites (e.g., India requires A2, Philippines requires A1). Regardless, learning basic Spanish is highly recommended.
While the Ministry does not strictly mandate a TEFL for eligibility, having a 120-hour certificate makes your application significantly more competitive. Additionally, myTEFL's application assistance service is exclusively available to our TEFL course graduates.
You will apply for a long-term Student Visa. This allows you to reside in Spain legally for the duration of the program (Oct–May) and travel freely within the Schengen Zone.
Housing is not included in the grant. You will need to rent your own apartment or room. Most assistants use the first few weeks in September to view apartments in person.
The official Profex 2 application portal typically opens in February. For most applicants (USA, Canada, UK, AUS, NZ, EU), placements are awarded on a First-Come, First-Served basis. Applying early is critical.
