Vietnam Internship FAQs

Common questions about visas, eligibility, and life in the Land of the Blue Dragon.

How much can I expect to earn?
+
Teachers in Vietnam typically earn between $1,200 and $1,800 USD per month. With local living costs being very low, this offers fantastic savings potential compared to other Asian destinations.
Which nationalities are eligible?
+
Most passport holders are welcome! Vietnam is open to teachers from diverse backgrounds. However, non-native English speakers are required to provide proof of proficiency (typically an IELTS 7.0 or equivalent) in addition to holding a Bachelor's degree.
Is accommodation included?
+
Accommodation (single room) is included for the duration of the 9-day orientation. After placement, our team assists you in finding your own housing. Modern apartments are very affordable, typically ranging from $250-$400/month.
Do I need a criminal background check?
+
Yes. You must have a clean criminal background check from your home country to ensure the safety of the students and to process your Work Permit.
How much money should I bring?
+
We recommend bringing approximately $1,500 - $2,000 USD. This covers your personal expenses during orientation and apartment deposits for your first month before you receive your first paycheck.
Do I need a medical check?
+
Yes. Unlike some other countries, Vietnam requires a standard health check at a local hospital to process your Work Permit. Our local team will guide you through this simple process once you arrive.
Do I need a university degree?
+
Yes. A Bachelor's degree (in any subject) is required to legally obtain a Work Permit in Vietnam. If you do not have a degree, we recommend our Cambodia internship instead.
What kind of visa will I get?
+
You will typically enter on a Business/E-Visa. Once you begin your teaching contract, your school will sponsor you for a Work Permit and Temporary Residence Card (TRC).
Where will my job placement be?
+
Placements are Nationwide! While many positions are in the major hubs of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, we also place teachers in coastal cities like Da Nang and towns in the Mekong Delta.
Can I bring my pet?
+
Bringing pets is strongly discouraged. The logistics and costs are high, and finding pet-friendly accommodation during the orientation phase is difficult.
How long is the contract?
+
Contracts are 12 months only. This commitment ensures you can settle into the culture, secure your legal work permit, and make a real impact on your students' learning.
Is medical insurance included?
+
No, international medical insurance is not included. You must arrive with proof of travel/medical insurance that covers you for the initial duration of your stay.
